I am currently considering moving to a Mac, and need to find a replacement for trueSpace. The problem is, trueSpaces UI works very well for me.

I have been looking at Wings3D, but although it seems to have a similair UI objective, with most of the area given over to modeling and manipulatoons taking place directly on the mesh, it dosnt quite go as smoothly as with trueSpace, I find making selections to be difficult at best.

This weekend I found (With the help of 3D World) a NURBS based model package called, Moments of Inspiration (MoI [link]).

It is by the guy who created Rhino, so I was instantlly interested.
The interface is quirky but very clean, with shades of OS X, designed for use with a pen and tablet, and it dosnt egt in the way, once you get use to it.

I followed a couple of the tuturials, the resualts can be found in my gallary.

Stright away, I was not thinking about the interface as I had been with wings3D, and like trueSpace the interface works with me (most of teh time ). Even if on my machine it can be frustratingly slow.

The downside, well it is Windows only too so looks like I will have to virtualise XP or something.
The other "downside" is it is just a modeler just like Wings3D. so you need something else to render it.

So I am considering MoI with trueSpace as the render, although I am not saying MoI will replace all my trueSpace modeling, trueSpace as a wide range of tools, and not sure how animating the MoI object will go, but hey it will be fun finding out.
